Winter

Within walking distance of Chalet de Compagnie you will find the Seilbahn which takes you to the sunny and very snow-sure ski area Lauchernalp. Snow-sure because the föhn, the warm southern wind, blows over the Lötschental valley.

The Lauchernalp is a relatively small ski area that offers a surprising number of possibilities. Off-piste skiing on the glacier is a truly special experience. The ski area is popular with the Swiss themselves, partly because it is not too crowded and offers very varied skiing opportunities. The Lauchernalp is often used as a starting point for ski touring routes.

In winter, the new Gletcherseilbahn takes you in a flash to the eternal snow at 3111 metres, where you can look over the ridge into the Bernese Oberland. After a day on the Lauchernalp, you can usually ski, board or sled down into the valley to the chalet.

Local ski instructors are happy to take you on a day trip, complete with backpack with shovel, compass and recco alarm. Snowboarding and the again popular Telemarken are also widely practised there.

You will also find 30 kilometres of cross-country ski trails in the Lötschental valley, through the forests and past the most beautiful spots.
